Meditation is a universal spiritual wisdom and a practice found at the core of most religious traditions. In our group, we practice in the tradition of Christian mediation. The resources we use come from the World Community of Christian mediation http://wccm.org/content/what-meditation
Christian meditation is a way of simplicity, silence, and stillness. Silence means letting go of thoughts. Stillness means letting go of desire. Simplicity means letting go of self-analysis.
While World Community of Christian meditation resources can be used for individual meditation practice, there is a benefit in coming together in a meditation group.
Each time we meet we have an opening prayer, 20 minutes of silent meditation, a short teaching lesson on meditation and a closing prayer.
The Christian Meditation group meets from 6:00- 6:45 pm on Wednesdays in the church library.
We welcome people from the congregation and community to come at any time. All are welcome!
Mindfulness Meditation is a time to quiet the mind.
It is a non-sectarian form of meditation where one pays purposeful attention to the present moment. It teaches one to be aware all of the time, as well as developing the skills of acceptance and patience.
We meet in the Library at 4:10 on Monday afternoons throughout the year. The quiet meditation time is for 25 minutes.
